Good underwater navigation means more time enjoying your dive and less time wondering where you are or surfacing somewhere you didn’t intend to be.
The PADI Underwater Navigator Specialty builds on the navigation skills you learned during your Open Water course and takes them further. With Dirty Adventures Scuba, you’ll get hands-on practice using both compass and natural navigation techniques to become more confident and independent underwater.

During three training dives, you’ll work on:
- Using an underwater compass accurately
- Natural navigation using underwater features and references
- Estimating distance underwater
- Navigating different compass patterns
- Marking and relocating underwater positions
- Combining compass and natural navigation techniques
- Planning and following underwater routes
- Improving awareness of your surroundings throughout the dive
Navigation is one of those skills that makes almost every other kind of diving better. Whether you’re shore diving, exploring a wreck, diving from a boat or simply trying to find your way back to the exit point, knowing where you are underwater makes you a more confident and capable diver.
